Brew Day! German Lager!

Not sure what this will be yet…

9 lbs Avangard Pils malt
1 oz tettnanger hops (mash)

Mashed in with a dough in at around 100F and raised to about 120 F then stepped to the 140’s before raising into the 150’s. 2 short decoctions to raise to mash out

Re-Use German Bock Yeast

11.3 OG pre-boil

35 IBU 12.4 alpha magnum hops

14 plato OG

Getting the German Bock Yeast going with a pils

8 lbs Avangard Pils malt
2 oz Acidulated malt
1 oz Tetnanger hops (boil)

Single Decoction with step mash

10.3 plato pre-boil

35 IBU 12.4 alpha Magnum 90 min boil

6 lbs avangard munchen malt
4 oz chocolate malt
2 oz black patent malt
~ 5 oz Nugget Hops whole leaf from Warren

Step mash

Re use English ale yeast

13.5 plato pre-boil

17.2 plato og

1 oz Warren Nugs at bottling time

Trying a new hop from New Zealand!

8.5 lbs Maris Otter (crisp)
1/2 lb Avangard Pils malt
4 oz Nelson Sauvin hops (mash)

Mashed in at 110-120F and raised in steps to 158F then out at 168F

35 IBU magnum 12.4 alpha

13.9 OG plato!

Re-used English Ale Yeast

1 oz Nelson for bottling

Very interesting Pungent hop aroma!
